Zusammenfassung:Ce:LuLiF 4 is evaluated as a fast scintillator using a storage ring free-electron laser operating in the deep-ultraviolet region. The relatively flat spectral response across its absorption bands makes this material an attractive scintillator for various excitation sources. Its decay time is acceptable for ignition timing in fast-ignition, inertial confinement nuclear fusion using laser. This report is the first systematic study on Ce:LuLiF 4 as a scintillator, wherein the storage ring free-electron laser is also shown as a powerful tool for material survey.
