Zusammenfassung:We studied the effects of microwave irradiation on ZnO ceramics under vacuum to clarify the emission of zinc and oxygen plasmas from ZnO, while simultaneously focusing on the material's optical properties. We observed the emission of zinc and oxygen plasmas during intense absorption of microwaves as well as the deposition of zinc and zinc oxide films. Absorption coefficient and photoluminescence spectra suggest that zinc and oxygen plasmas were produced from grain surfaces of ZnO by microwave irradiation under vacuum, a phenomenon which was observed in a previous study on TiO 2 [Jpn. J. Appl. Phys. 48 (2009) 116003].
