Zusammenfassung: | Two novel remote sensing techniques based on laser spectroscopy are proposed for measurement of electric fields in atmosphere under thunderclouds. One is to measure Stark splitting of Rydberg states of argon atoms or Stark shifts of energy levels of polar molecules in atmosphere. The other is to detect the resonant sum frequency or second harmonic generation due to four-wave mixing under the electric fields. The possibility of the measurement by means of a long-path or light detection and ranging (LIDAR) technique is discussed. |
