Theory of single electron tunneling through a quantum dot dimer

Transport spectra of a quantum dot dimer are studied with the assumption that energy levels are quantized in each quantum dot. The splitting of energy levels between bonding and antibonding states is modulated by the coupling with electronic states in an emitter and a collector. When the coupling wi...

Zusammenfassung:Transport spectra of a quantum dot dimer are studied with the assumption that energy levels are quantized in each quantum dot. The splitting of energy levels between bonding and antibonding states is modulated by the coupling with electronic states in an emitter and a collector. When the coupling with external electrodes is strong enough, the spectra of a quantum dot dimer are not necessarily observed by I – V characteristics.
