Zusammenfassung:An electron energy analyzer is designed for time-resolved measurement of pulsed energetic electron beams whose energy is in the range from 200 keV to several MeV, and successfully used to obtain energy distribution of the electron beam generated by a plasma focus device. The beam detection system is based on the Cerenkov effect. The radiation is detected by six photomultipliers through optical fibers mounted at different angles which depend on the electron energy. For the optical medium, Lucite is employed. Energy resolution of the detector is presented as a function of the electron energy. The signal ratio of the Cerenkov radiation to the scintillation by X-rays, which is always produced with a high-temperature plasma, is evaluated experimentally.
