The preparation and characterization of diamond powder by DC arc plasma

Zusammenfassung: | Diamond powder was synthesized by the plasma CVD method for the first time in the world. Acetylene (C

H

) and hydrogen (H

) gases were used for starting materials. The arc plasma with these gases was led onto the quenching disk and the plasma was rapidly quenched. A gray powder was deposited on the inner wall around the quenching disk. The powder consisted of spherical particles and was confirmed to be a cubic diamond with a little amorphous carbon according to Raman spectra and X-ray diffraction. |
