Studies on double malonates. I. Sodium lanthanide malonates, Na 5 Ln(C 3 H 2 O 4 ) 4• 7 • 5H 2 O (Ln = Gd–Ho or Y)
A new series of double malonates of some of the lanthanides and yttrium with sodium having the formula Na 5 Ln(C 3 H 2 O 4 ) 4• 7 • 5 H 2 O was synthesised. The compounds were characterised using X-ray powder diffractometry and infrared absorption spectroscopy.
