Fumaritine N-oxide, an alkaloid of Fumaria kralikii Jord

Alkaloid F k -5, isolated from F. kralikii, has been shown to be fumaritine N-oxide. The structure was established by 1 H and 13 C nmr and by mass spectrometry and confirmed by reduction of F k -5 to fumaritine. The 13 C spectra of fumaritine and its N-oxide are discussed.
