Organoantimony compounds. I. Infrared spectra of some trimethyl- and triphenyl-antimony derivatives

Organoantimony compounds of the type R 3 SbX and (R 3 Sb) 2 OX, where R is methyl or phenyl, and X is a bivalent anionic group such as SeO 4 , CrO 4 , or C 2 O 4 , have been prepared. Structural characteristics of these compounds have been determined by studying their infrared spectra in the solid state between 4000 and 250 cm −1 . The spectral results indicate that in both types of compounds the anion X is coordinated to the R 3 Sb or (R 3 SbOSbR 3 ) group resulting in non-ionic, five coordinate, polymeric structures.
