Advantages Greater flexibility of on calls Being able to have a life outside medicine The opportunity to do gynaecology as a PRHO It is much less frightening to always start a job with someone Disadvantages Implicit and explicit need to prove yourself to be as competent as the full time PRHOs It takes a month or two to settle into each job, so that by the time you are enjoying the job properly you are just about to swap to another one It takes longer to train Personal perspectives Eleanor I have lost count of the number of times I have been asked: "So, how many kids do you have?" It is not easy explaining being a part time doctor when I have no family commitments.
