Zusammenfassung:LRT projects in European cities are not transportation maintenance only, but also the creation of the attractive landscape and high quality pedestrian spaces. In this paper, the authors focus on design characteristics of LRT stops as a factor of landscape components based on the information collected by site surveys. The analysis indicates that the design features are divided into 5 types. A time sequential study clarifies that there are four stages, 1st stage: the design to merge into the surroundings; 2nd stage: design as a dynamic symbol; 3rd stage: design to create the urban landscape; 4th stage: design as a medium to express an urban design concept.
