Research on actual condition of existing vacant houses and study on possibility of utilizing them as "spaces for disarster prevention" in the densely built-up area: The Case of Tsuruhashi Area in Osaka City

In the densely built-up area,people face grave risks of the street-blockades in case of strong earthquake because of lacking open spaces. On the other hand,many vacant houses tend to be neglected in some densely built-up area. However I think it's possible that utilizing them as ""space for Disaster prevention."" The purpose of this study is to understand an actual condition of existing vacant houses and make clear possibility of utilizing them as "spaces for disaster prevention" in the densely built-up area. I evaluated the disaster prevention performances of the ways of maintenances wiht vacant houses; ""removing"",""making it street"",""widening"",""making it refuge"" and ""compounding ways."" As a result,I found that ""compounding ways""performs radically and that it's possible to utilize vacant houses as"spaces for disaster prevention" in the densely built-up area.
