Evaluation and Monitoring of Urban Regeneration in Hulme Area, Manchester

Here, Hulme City Challenge, which has been executed since early 1990's, is investigated in terms of evaluation and monitoring system as the most typical example to illustrate the procedure. The system was integrated into the initial project guideline and has been effective till now. Exensive review were compiled at the ends of the project stages, in 1997 and 2002, and the outcome of the project was evaluated respectively. Raw materials collected from the pertinent organizations at the site have been systematically perused and the merit of this consecutive process has been clarified. This system turned out to enable serial revision of the initial goals to abide by the alterations of the circumstances. It is expected to contribute to the evaluation system of especially long-term urban regeneration projects in Japan.
