Zusammenfassung: | This paper is a study on Le Corbusier's footsteps for "Urbanisme" published in 1925, particularly in relation to influences of an American city planner George B. Ford on Le Corbusier's work for "une ville contemporaine". The following are conclusions. 1) The diagonal street system of "une ville contemporaine" faithfully reflects the reconstruction plan for Reims designed by Ford. This fact indicates that Le Corbusier has understood simultaneously a limit of "sittesque" city planning and a possibility of American rectilinear cities through the activity for the "Renaissance des Cites". 2) It is conceivable that the skyscraper of "une ville contemporaine" is designed in accordance with a basic concept of the "Building Zone Resolution" for which Ford has just worked. 3) It is conceivable that the airport of "une ville contemporaine" is designed as a solution to the question which Ford has raised. |
