Zusammenfassung:The effects of variation of pH of NaCl solutions under the conditions of polarization of the MF-4SK membrane surface-modified with polyaniline were studied. Experimental evidence was obtained for the effect of bipolar contacts between the sulfo groups of the membrane and the positively charged nitrogen atoms of polyaniline on water splitting under the polarization conditions. The electrochemical behavior of the composite with its modified layer orientated toward the flow of counterions was found to be similar to that of the MB-3 bipolar membrane, which shows itself as acidification of the solution in the concentration chamber (alkalization of the electrolyte in the desalination chamber was absent). After the reverse orientation, the behavior of the composite was the same as that of the initial MF-4SK membrane.
