Zusammenfassung:The hybodont shark, Hybodus hauffianus Fraas, 1895 is well-established on the basis of multiple well-preserved and articulated specimens from the Posidonienschiefer Formation (Toarcian, Early Jurassic) of the Holzmaden-Ohmden region of Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany, but has not so far been recorded from outside the type area. A partial skull including numerous teeth exposed in a variety of views are described from the Koblenzer (Middle Posidonienschiefer Formation, Semicelatum Subzone) of Dormettingen some 75 km south-west of Holzmaden. This is the first record of H. hauffianus from this part of the Posidonienschiefer outcrop and the specimen permits refinement of the species diagnosis.
