Zusammenfassung:The audio-frequency magnetotelluric method was used to sound a permafrost region in the Mackenzie delta in the Northwest Territories. A simple two-layer model consisting of a high electrical resistivity layer overlying less resistive material gave interpreted depths in agreement with those determined by drilling. The summer active layer was transparent even at high sounding frequencies.
