Zusammenfassung: | Brillouin scattering studies have been performed in molten CdCl2 to investigate the frequency dependence of sonic propagation in this ionic liquid. The hypersonic velocity and compressibility have been determined in the temperature range 840–980 K at three different scattering angles (42.0 °, 93.3 °, and 141.6 °) corresponding to frequency shifts of ∼2.6, ∼5.4, and ∼7.0 GHz, respectively. A comparison of the results obtained at these hypersonic frequencies with corresponding ultrasonic data indicates that these measurements have been performed in a frequency region below any relaxation frequency. |
