Zusammenfassung: | This paper continues the study of a point-excited infinite cylindrical shell in vacuum [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 31, 115(A) (1959)]. Each nonaxisymmetric modal impedance is found to contain a resistance and a mass of equal magnitude, as in the case of an infinite bar. The impedance decreases with increasing mode number up to a “cutoff” mode. Stiffness effects become important for modes above the cutoff mode. The analysis has been extended to finite shells and rings. Couplings between the impedances in practical problems are considered. [Supported by Office of Naval Research Contract No. Nonr-2322(00).] |
