Zusammenfassung:The National Research Council Canada has built a new four room flanking facility to expand its capability to test flanking noise transmission across junctions of typical multi-dwelling units. The cast-in-place concrete structure is configured to construct two rooms on top of two rooms. This facility allows various configurations to measure flanking noise: one continuous or two discontinuous floors (or walls) and a common façade (side wall). With the overhead crane, it is possible to install heavy monolithic elements such as precast concrete and cross-laminated timber panels such that are used in mid and high-rise buildings. There are structural breaks between the rooms to reduce unwanted structural transmission and the addition of shielding panels makes this facility capable of measuring flanking of high performing junctions/assemblies. The facility has been designed to meet the requirements of ISO 10848 for both airborne and impact noise transmission. Facility design details and commissioning data will be presented.
