Moving Magnets and the Symmetry of Maxwell's Equations
The electric and magnetic fields associated with moving magnetic dipoles are derived, at an elementary level, by introducing fictitious magnetic charges and by considering the symmetry of Maxwell's equations. The result is applied to the derivation of the spinorbit term in hydrogen-like atoms.
