Connecting the World - A Scientific Network for Armenian Research Institutes

This month, IC Online explores radio-modem technology and satellite connectivity as a potential solution for bringing the Internet to the developing world. The authors describe their efforts in a project connecting science institutes in the Ashtarak region of Armenia. The project, sponsored by a NATO Networking Infrastructure Grant, has given approximately 200 scientists full access to the Armenian Scientific Data Exchange Network (ASDEN), as well as to the Internet and its services.
