Contour-Mode Vibrations in Y-Cut Quartz-Crystal Plates

Theoretical considerations and experimental results both indicate that the principal contour-mode responses in Y-cut quartz plates, excited by simple electrodes on the major faces, are due to coupling between the fundamental shear mode and the second flexural mode and its harmonics. Zusammenfassung:Theoretical considerations and experimental results both indicate that the principal contour-mode responses in Y-cut quartz plates, excited by simple electrodes on the major faces, are due to coupling between the fundamental shear mode and the second flexural mode and its harmonics. Extensional and first flexural modes can be excited only by the use of special electrode arrangements.
