Zusammenfassung:We experimentally demonstrate the frozen-mode, a propagating light mode with vanishing group velocity via mode degeneracy, in a three-way coupled Silicon ridge waveguides on Silicon-on-Insulator all dielectric material platform. The Transmission spectrum measurement shows a good alignment with the full-wave electromagnetic simulation with stationary inflection point (SIP) around 193.8 THz, shifted by about 0.19 THz compared to simulation. Application for this Frozen-mode involves mmWave beamforming for next generations of wireless communications. Also, the photonic beamforming itself can find interesting applications in the emerging fields of augmented and virtual reality display devices, biological sensing and also in quantum information processing.
