Zusammenfassung: | Most industrial companies have a distribution system with many local warehouses geographically close to the customers. One or more warehouses in each country in Europe is not unusual. A change from this traditional distribution system to "Time Based Distribution", with direct deliveries to customers all over Europe from one centralized warehouse, results in a much more competitive distribution system in terms of decreased distribution costs and increased customer service. This article presents the effects of three international Swedish companies' successful redesign of their distribution systems for the European market. |
