Synthesis and crystal structure of a solvated Co III complex with 2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone ligands

The title Co III complex, bis[bis(2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde thiosemicarbazonato)cobalt(III)] dithionate–dimethylformamide–methanol (1/4/3), [Co(C 9 H 10 N 3 O 2 S) 2 ] 2 (S 2 O 6 )·4C 3 H 7 NO·3CH 3 OH, with monodeprotonated 2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone as ligands crystallizes in the space group P \overline{1}. The asymmetric unit consists of two mononuclear [Co L 2 ] + cations, one dithionate anion (S 2 O 6 ) 2− as counter-anion and seven solvate molecules (four dimethylmethanamide and three methanol). Each Co III ion has a moderately distorted octahedral S 2 N 2 O 2 geometry. In the crystal, the components are linked by numerous N—H...O and O—H...O contacts.
