Zusammenfassung: | A low-frequency magnetoplasma resonance, which is related to the whistler'' of ionosphere physics and the helicon'' resonance, is described. A sensitive method for observing this resonance is described. It involves the use of a diode ring demodulator as a phase-sensitive detector. The method is used to study the resonance quantitatively in Cu, Ag, Au, and Pb; resonances are also observed in Sn, Zn, Cd, and Hg, Analysis of the data yields values for the Hall coefficient and resistivity as a function of magnetic field, The results obtained for the noble metals and Pb by this probeless method are in agreement with those obtained using conventional methods.
