Zusammenfassung:An apparatus is described for generating highly ionized quiescent cesium ion plasmas of useful densitiss ( approximately 1O/sup 14/ ions/cm/sup 3/) in d-c magnetic fields of 300 to 1500 oersteds. Double-probe methods are found to give correct results and are used to measure the diffusions and profiles of the plasma columns. The volume recombination coefficient is also easily determined and is (10/sup -10/ cm/sup 3//sec. (T.F.H.)
