Calculations for Ni-like soft X-ray lasers: optimisation for W (43.1 Å)

Near-optimum conditions for lasing in Ni-like W are calculated for a 90-/mu/g/cm/sup 2/ foil irradiated by a 2/omega/ (/lambda/=0.53 /mu/m), 2.3/times/10/sup 14/-W/cm/sup 2/, 550-ps trapezoidal pulse. The gain coefficient for the /ital J/=0--1, 4/ital d/-4/ital p/ Ni-like transition at 43.1 A is pre...

Zusammenfassung:Near-optimum conditions for lasing in Ni-like W are calculated for a 90-/mu/g/cm/sup 2/ foil irradiated by a 2/omega/ (/lambda/=0.53 /mu/m), 2.3/times/10/sup 14/-W/cm/sup 2/, 550-ps trapezoidal pulse. The gain coefficient for the /ital J/=0--1, 4/ital d/-4/ital p/ Ni-like transition at 43.1 A is predicted to be 5.5 cm/sup /minus/1/. The electron density and temperature are 2.5/times/10/sup 21/ cm/sup /minus/3/ and 860 eV at x-ray laser time.
