Electron-Induced Preequilibrium Alpha Emission

This paper presents energy spectra of ..cap alpha.. particles emitted following the bombardment of /sup 27/Al, /sup nat/Ni, /sup 92/Mo, /sup 94/Mo, and /sup 197/Au with 120-MeV electrons, together with ..cap alpha..-particle angular distributions from /sup 197/Au and /sup nat/Ni for E/sub b/ = 30 an...

Zusammenfassung:This paper presents energy spectra of ..cap alpha.. particles emitted following the bombardment of /sup 27/Al, /sup nat/Ni, /sup 92/Mo, /sup 94/Mo, and /sup 197/Au with 120-MeV electrons, together with ..cap alpha..-particle angular distributions from /sup 197/Au and /sup nat/Ni for E/sub b/ = 30 and 50 MeV. The data are compared with preequilibrium exciton-model and statistical-model calculations. It is concluded that few-step processes are dominant in the production of ..cap alpha.. particles with energies above 20 MeV.
