Zusammenfassung:	The Eastern massasauga rattlesnake is native to many Midwestern states. Although this rattlesnake is smaller in size than many other pit vipers, envenomation can still produce significant morbidity, particularly in children. Children bitten by Eastern massasauga rattle-snakes appear to do well with treatment programs consisting primarily of antivenom and blood component replacement.
