Postcards from Disasters: Hurricanes Katrina and Rita

I grew up on the Texas Gulf coast. Big hurricanes and their aftermath have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My earliest memory of childhood is an image of a storm. I must have been 3 or 4, and I remember hiding under the big desk in my fatherʼs darkened office in downtown Beaumont as lightening flashed outside the window.
