Imaging of pediatric renal tumors

The treatment of childhood renal tumors has advanced dramatically over the past few decades. During this time, significant improvements in imaging techniques have enhanced our diagnostic capabilities. In all children, a search for metastatic disease is indicated before treatment plans can be defined. Preoperative imaging can also provide useful staging information and aid the surgeon in planning the operative approach in a child with a large abdominal mass.
