Zusammenfassung:Self-prescribed vitamin/mineral supplementation is relatively common among Americans. Market sales indicate that supplementation represents a significant dollar investment. Data on supplement recommendations arising from health professionals are sparse. This survey collected information on supplement recommendations by clinical dietitians over a six-month time frame. Of the total sample of 222, 73% had recommended a supplement during the study period. Types of supplements recommended are given. Dietitians are challenged to help their clients gain enough information to make a more informed evaluation of their own diet and its nutritional adequacy
