Zusammenfassung: | An authoritative educational report for dietitians provides an overview of and guidelines for the nutritional assessment and management of children with cancer. Specific attention is given to nutritional assessment and monitoring methods, including the development of the patient profile, various anthropometric measurements and standards, clinical and biochemical assessment, nutrient intake analysis relative to nutrient requirements, and the potential for drug-nutrient interactions. Guidelines for appropriate nutritional support and special considerations in managing the nutritional status of the cancer child also are included. A "closed-book," multiple-choice test based for continuing education credit for dietitians is appended, based on the material covered in this report. Continuing education was valid for one year from enrollment in this journal's program.(wz) |
