Zusammenfassung: | Research into human sexuality has resulted in advances in the pharmacological treatment and understanding of the biological aspects of the paraphilias. Pharmacotherapy of sexual deviancy is fairly highly developed, although a variety of difficulties have prevented double-blind studies from being completed, and more intensive research is necessary. Surgical castration has also raised some controversy in terms of its ethical implications. The relationship of mental retardation to sexual deviancy is another subject which has been addressed but one for which further research is clearly necessary. Further research into the biological aspects of sexual deviancy is needed with a specific view on further pharmacological interventions. Some other research and clinical reports are also of general interest in this area. |
