I enjoyed the Case Report by Nancy Zimny (January 1998) in which knowledge about the hip and an eclectic package of clinical approaches were used to demonstrate clinical reasoning in the management of a 21-year-old physical therapist student with chronic hip pain.
Ms Zimny illustrated how many of us attempt to solve clinical problems, and to a large extent the outcome was successful. However, because the result was positive, we might be tempted to "let sleeping dogs lie" with the rationale: "It worked—so what does it matter how we got there?"...
