Zusammenfassung: | Relative gas gain as a function of several parameters (i.e. filling gas, pressure and anode diameter) has been measured and calculated for a cylindrical TEPC with a sensitive volume of about 400 cm3. Two experimental approaches have been used: the determination of the alpha peak position of the built-in alpha source and the record of a single electron spectrum. Numerical simulations of the gas gain have been performed for the same detector configurations. Measurements and calculations have been compared to assess the validity range of the simulation. Moreover gas gain simulations have been used to optimise the detector design to allow its use at very low filling gas pressures. The evaluation of the single electron experiment was difficult due to noise cut-off. However, recently started Monte Carlo simulations of single electron spectra may help to overcome this problem. |
