TLD Response to Low Energy Protons
The response of some thermoluminescent detectors (TLD) to protons with energies between 2.9 and 8.4 MeV was measured. 7LiF, CaSO4: Dy, alumophosphate glass and two types of Al2O3 were studied. It was found that the relative light conversion factor depends in some cases on proton energy and, mainly,...

Zusammenfassung: | The response of some thermoluminescent detectors (TLD) to protons with energies between 2.9 and 8.4 MeV was measured. 7LiF, CaSO4: Dy, alumophosphate glass and two types of Al2O3 were studied. It was found that the relative light conversion factor depends in some cases on proton energy and, mainly, on the type of TLD. For most TLDs it is lower than 1.0. However, in the case of Al2O3 produced by CEC in France it is higher than 1.0 and increases with decreasing proton energy. This behaviour corresponds well to the fast neutron relative response of this detector observed in our previous studies. |
