Some Examples of Industrial Uses of Neutron Sources

Neutron techniques offer great potential for the solution of several problems in industry and not only in the nuclear industry. The use of neutron sources (sealed radionuclide sources, accelerators, neutron beams delivered by research reactors. etc.) is widespread. The type of neutron interaction with the matter investigated depends on the application. A short review of these applications is outlined, pointing out their main features. Some examples of the main industries which call on such techniques are mentioned. Finally, the main needs concerning neutron dosimetry linked to the French regulations on industrial devices containing neutron sources are described.
