Ca and Sr influence on carbohydrate synthesis and composition in Protosiphon

Protosiphon cells grown in a Ca-containing medium, or one with Sr replacing Ca, photosynthesized 12 hr using 14CO2. Following this, the alcohol-insoluble fraction of cells grown in Ca contained significantly greater 14C label in uronic acid than did this fraction of Sr-grown cells.
