An Examination of a Method of Auxin Assay using the Growth of Isolated Sections of Avena Coleoptiles in Test Solutions

Methods of auxin assay using the Avena coleoptile are discussed. A review is given of experimental procedure and evaluation of results in the straight-growth method using isolated sections of coleoptiles in test solutions. Possible sources of variation in the straight-growth method are investigated and discussed. A revised experimental procedure for the straight-growth method is described.
