Zusammenfassung:The results of the study of 68 cases of mastitis indicate the prevalence of streptococci as infecting agents in the disease, although other organisms, particularly staphylococci and members of the colon-typhoid group may show occasional periods of predominace. The veterinarian seldom sees cases of bovine mastitis not complicated by infection. It is believed that the incidence of the more severe cases of mastitis can be materially reduced in all herds by adherence to a few simple rules of dairy hygiene, such as the isolation of mastitis cases, avoidance of disseminating the infection from infected cases, prevention of dietary disorders, and precautions againts traumatism.
