Zusammenfassung:One, 2, and 3 applications of Orthene or Nudrin were evaluated at the Tobacco Experiment Station, Greeneville. ‘Pioneer 3147’ corn was planted on Jun 29. Plots were 30 ft x 4 rows (40 in spacing) with 4 replicates in a randomized complete block design. Blocks were separated by 5 ft alleys. Plant population averaged 17,000/acre. All plots were treated on Jul 26 when worm populations averaged 4.29 larvae/plant. Additional applications were made to appropriate plots on Aug 2 and 9. Sprays were applied with a back-pack hand held CO2, pressurized sprayer calibrated to deliver 40 gpa at 30 psi. Newly damaged whorls were counted on Aug 2, 9, and 23. Yield determinations were made on Nov 9.
