Zusammenfassung:Methoxyflurane was administered to 1196 patients during a 6-year period and the records of 1000 patients were reviewed. Two patients developed severe renal insufficiency but survived. There were 17 other patients who showed an inappropriate postoperative diuresis but they did not develop severe renal insufficiency. The records of 1000 patients given general anaesthesia other than methoxyflurane were also studied. None exhibited inappropriate diuresis. The mortality rate from all causes was comparable in the two groups.
