ASSISTED AND CONTROLLED VENTILATION IN THE NEWBORN PERIOD: EFFECT ON OXYGENATION

Thirty studies on nine infants were assessed to study the effect on oxygenation of assisting and controlling ventilation. In twenty of thirty studies there was an increase in PaO2 on assist mode with corresponding decrease in A-a oxygen gradient and per cent venous admixture.
