Control of Tarnished Plant Bugs, Leafhoppers, Cucumber Beetles, Treehoppers and Flea Beetles on Southern Pea, 1995

Insecticide treatments were applied on 26 Jun 1995 on southern pea at the Burden Research Plantation in Baton Rouge, LA using labeled rates. A CO2 powered backpack sprayer calibrated to deliver 50 gpa at 30 psi through a spray boom with 3 nozzles was used. Experimental plots consisted of single rows (40 feet long by 4 feet wide) arranged in a RCB design with 4 replications. Insect counts were made with sweep nets on 25 Jun (pre-treatment) and 29 Jun (post-treatment). In each plot, 25 sweeps were made. Insects were brought back to the laboratory and the number of indi-viduals of each species determined.
