Zusammenfassung:This study presents a numerical framework for a unidirectional shape memory polymer-based composite (SMPC) corrugated structure. The framework combines an empirically modified constitutive model of shape memory polymer (SMP) with modified temperature-dependent laminate theory. Model parameters in the SMP constitutive relation are determined and calibrated from the dynamic mechanical analysis tests. Subsequently, the numerical implementation of the SMP model is validated with experimental results from the three-point bending test. This was followed by simulations to investigate the thermo-mechanical response of SMPC lamina. The findings from the simulations revealed the influence of SMPC fiber orientation and volume fraction on stored strain through the spring back effect. Finally, the framework is applied to investigate the shape memory response of a unidirectional SMPC trapezoidal corrugated structure. The simulations highlight the potential of the SMPC corrugated structure as a load bearing adaptive structure for wing morphing applications.
