The relationship between stellar population and radio continuum emission in spiral galaxies
The 1.49 GHz continuum emission from 161 spiral galaxies was mapped. The correlation of radio continuum and NIR surface brightnesses for a given Hubble type indicates a connection between radio continuum emission and the overall stellar populations of normal spiral galaxies. The intrinsic range of b...

Zusammenfassung: | The 1.49 GHz continuum emission from 161 spiral galaxies was mapped. The correlation of radio continuum and NIR surface brightnesses for a given Hubble type indicates a connection between radio continuum emission and the overall stellar populations of normal spiral galaxies. The intrinsic range of both the radio continuum emission and the hybrid H magnitude surface brightness in spiral galaxies suggests the existence of a wide intrinsic range of the stellar population at a given Hubble type or rotation velocity in spiral galaxies. 17 references. |
