Zusammenfassung: | Scanner measurements of TiO and CaH bands are interpreted using model atmospheres to yield information on the abundance, and gravity of M dwarfs of different kinematic populations. If the O/C ratio is solar in the halo, a number of M subdwarfs in the present study are metal deficient by only 0.5 to 1.0 dex. In the redder young disk stars weaker, CaH suggest a gravity lower than that on the old disk main sequence. Blanketing by TiO is shown to give a marked bundance dependence to R: I in M dwarfs.
